Group Fitness Guidelines

Please read 'Guidelines' carefully before signing Group Fitness Participation Waiver (pdf).

  1. Clothing must be well-fitted, supportive aerobic or cross-trainer shoes with good arch supports, flexible soles and cushioning on the bottom, especially at the heel, and non-black soles. Clothing should be comfortable and allow for freedom of movement.
  2. Before embarking on this group fitness exercise program, a physical examination by a healthcare provider is recommended, especially for those who may be overweight or are over 30 years of age. It is also recommended for those who may have an illness, injury or disability that could increase their risk of injury while participating in an aerobic exercise program.
  3. Work at your own pace. Slow down if you need to, walking slowly until you are able to rejoin the class. If you feel faint or light-headed, STOP exercising.
  4. Do not eat a heavy meal before coming to class.
  5. Exercise a minimum of three times a week to allow for maximum benefit.
  6. If something hurts, STOP doing the exercise and see your instructor after class for some suggestions.

If you are under a doctor's care for diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, seizures, arthritis, recent injury or surgery, if you are pregnant, or if there are other possible prohibitions to exercise, you must consult your doctor before registering.
